A short stroll down Bury St Edmunds best known street, highlighting the personalities and changes to the street over the last century. Of special appeal to those who may not normally follow such walks.

An opportunity for a leisurely stroll and to learn how change has affected Bury St Edmunds best known street over the past century. Find out about personalities, past use of some premises, architectural appearance and customs. This will especially appeal to those who may not normally undertake a guided tour because of physical or mental challenges or disability, including cognitive impairment. Participants own reminiscences are welcome and will add to this pleasurable event. Accessible to all, though Abbeygate Street is on a gentle slope.

Meet on the corner of the Traverse/Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds

Tours will last approximately 20-30 minutes.

Tours are free as part of Heritage Open Days 2021, but pre-booking is essential. Max 15 people per tour.
