Work Based Learning Placements at Colchester Zoo

Here at Colchester Zoo we understand the importance of having work based learning as part of your preparation for working in the animal care industry. This may be to gather evidence to support your studies or to consolidate your theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

The minimum age for work experience placements is 18 years old and you should be enrolled on, or have completed an animal/conservation based training course.

We have developed two work based learning schemes that are designed to support the different phases of learning and development for students from entry level to post qualification. Work based learning placements are undertaken within our animal keeping sections.

All of our work based learning placements are full-time and will include 5 consecutive days in placement per week. You will also be expected to attend some weekends.
