Come and discover more about the famous shrine of St Edmund in the heart of the beautiful Abbey Gardens.

Established by King Cnut in 1020 and closed by Henry VIII in 1539, all the vast lands of the abbey were then sold, its gold and silver confiscated, and its stunning buildings pulled down to be used as building material. From the surviving remains we consider how some of many buildings were used in medieval times. Join us to find out how the monks lived, and how they dominated the medieval town.
